Frequently Asked Questions

  • Mastering.to is a platform dedicated to providing artists with the highest quality audio mastering at an ultra-low price point and using a risk-free ordering model. We partner with established mastering engineers and studios to “fill space” in their schedules. Artists get the highest-quality, lowest-cost mastering with zero risk, while engineers and studios get new client streams at no acquisition cost.

  • We provide initial masters within 24-48 hours from time of upload. In the unlikely event we expect a delay, someone from our team will reach out to let you know.

  • The software used will depend on the specific engineer assigned to your order. The majority of our partner studios use Magix Sequoia for mastering.

  • The analog gear used by your engineer will depend entirely on the specific track being mastered. Please see our studios page for an idea of some of the gear our partner engineers use.

  • Because of the dynamic nature of modern releasing, we do not add metadata and leave this process to the artist’s team.

  • We do not perform mixing services and our partner studios are geared specifically for mastering only.

  • Our ordering process ensures that all orders are approved by the client prior to payment. For this reason, there are no refunds on any orders.

  • We can. Please let us know if you need vinyl mastering when you place your order.

  • Yes, we can master for any physical format. Please let us know the format(s) you’re planning to release on besides streaming when placing your order.

  • Your mix and composition will determine the degree to which you can push level in the mastering process. Keep in mind, however, there’s not much point to pushing level outside of a very limited number of contexts. If level is a priority for you, please let us know when placing your order and we can determine how best to meet your needs.
